For this brief, my main focus was working with LUSH to create a ‘Uplifting Mood’ well-being toolkit for festival-goers - to improve and tackle anxiety, self-esteem and confidence during and after a festival.
Introducing my Wellbeing Toolkit, Abstract Aura, to help user’s uplift their mood. The purpose of this kit is to support user’s through anxiety and low moments. Including a poster to track moods, deck of cards, with positive prompts, affirmations, challenges and creative prompts to spark creativity.
To begin I got some inspiration from visiting the LUSH store in Poole, where I browsed and interreacted with products, and looked at different packaging’s. This has helped me get inspo on the sort of style LUSH presents to their customers.
Also creating a survey, getting results on box design preferences to fit everyone’s needs and interests and what LUSH products is beneficial to have at my chosen festival Glastonbury Festival.
I started off by creating different moodboards for 3 different (theme) routes, allowing me to experiment with what works best for the audience at the festival - incorporating the design and themes from Glastonbury Festival to influence my routes.
For my first route, I wanted to focus on creating a positive, calming and engaging toolkit. I wanted to do this by incorporating flowers as from my research it has proven that it could uplift people’s moods. The toolkit will include a deck of cards aimed at promoting positivity, mindfulness, and personal growth, a poster that tracks the user’s moods in a span of 100 days.
For my second route, I wanted to look into a Celestial type of theme using Moon’s and Star’s. The colour choice of purple is quite bold, but it goes well with the yellow add ons. I feel like this makes the box stand out more. The toolkit comes with a card deck with Wellness Tips, Affirmations, Uplifting Prompts and Inspiring Stories, this allows the user to be able to engage and interact with the cards with friends or even strangers.
For my third route, I have used the results of my survey of “what colour uplifts your mood” on my design, pinks, blues etc. I wanted to look into ‘Creative Expression’ and design a Toolkit that is visually appealing which also suits and is similar to Glastonbury Festival which has vibrant, pop colours and groovy illustrations.
I have decided to merge both Route 1 and Route 3, as from the feedback I have recieved it could work really well together and suit the 'Glastonbury Festival' theme.
The choice of colours mentioned in the results of my survey, makes the toolkit appealing to look at, with the flowers it’s a natural mood boost.
I’ve also created a QR code where the user can scan and add their “uplifting mood” songs onto a Spotify playlist (could be played while using LUSH products).
The card deck has 4 sections: Uplifting Prompts, Affirmations, Motivational Challenges and Creative Prompts. These pushes user’s to be more self-confident, boosts self-esteem and let their creative side out.
I was very grateful for the live brief experience, designing for LUSH and working along side with Foil Co and Dayfold Prints. Research has been beneficial in the development of my work, from store visits to surveys influencing my ideas. It was really nice to bring my ideas to life through print.
I feel like my final outcome could’ve been better if I had time managed properly and got the support I know I would’ve got. My significant learning moment was trying to print on my own, and trying to get everything into size.
